Settings and Account

The Profile tab is the rightmost tab at the bottom of the screen. It's where you manage your subscription, customize the app, and find community links. Here's a walkthrough of everything you'll find there.

Premium and Free Plan

Snap to Learn is built by a small family, and every scan costs real money to process on the backend. The app works on a freemium model so it can stay running and keep improving.

A typical workbook page contains around 40 words, so every single scan gives you a big chunk of vocabulary to practice. Here's how the plans work:

  • Free Plan: You get 3 scan credits to start -- that's roughly 120 words of vocabulary to practice right away. All practice features are fully available: handwriting recognition, keyboard input, test mode, and hints. Text-to-speech pronunciation is free for your first 20 plays -- after that it requires a subscription.

  • Subscriptions: 80 scans per month -- enough to build a vocabulary of 3,200+ words from a single textbook. You also get unlimited text-to-speech and an ad-free experience. Two options:

    • Monthly -- $5.99/month
    • Yearly -- $49.99/year (best value -- saves you over 30%)
  • Scan Packs: Prefer to buy scans as you go? One-time packs are available:

    • 20 scans (~800 words) -- $3.99
    • 50 scans (~2,000 words) -- $8.99
    • 100 scans (~4,000 words) -- $14.99

Scan packs never expire, and you can buy them on top of a subscription if you need extra credits.

The important thing to know is that scanning and text-to-speech (after the free 20 plays) are the only features behind the paywall. Once words are in your decks, every practice and learning tool is free to use.

Tapping the Premium button on the Profile tab takes you to the Membership screen, where you can see your current plan, buy scan packs, or upgrade.

Appearance

Choose between Light mode, Dark mode, or Auto. Auto follows your phone's system setting, so if your phone switches to dark mode at night, the app will too.

Language

This changes the display language of the app itself (menus, buttons, labels). It does not affect the languages you're learning -- those are configured when you create decks.

Push Notifications

Turn these on to get notified when your scans are done processing and to receive daily study reminders. Helpful if you want a nudge to keep your streak going.

Share Usage Data

This setting controls anonymous analytics that help us improve the app. The data is never sold and never used for advertising. If you'd rather not share anything, you can turn this off at any time with no impact on your experience.

Account

When you first open Snap to Learn, the app creates an anonymous account for you automatically. There's no sign-up form, no email required -- you just start using it. Your data is stored locally on your device.

Community

The Profile tab includes links to the Reddit Community, where you can share feedback, ask questions, and connect with other learners, and a quick link to Rate the App on your app store.

Restore Purchases

If you reinstall Snap to Learn or switch to a new device, tap Restore Purchases on the Membership screen to recover your subscription and any scan packs you've bought. This pulls your purchase history from the App Store or Google Play.

A note for parents

The user ID shown at the very bottom of the Membership screen is useful if you ever need to contact support. You can copy it with one tap. If your child is having an issue with their account or subscription, including this ID in your support message will help us find their account quickly.
